Millennium Point Appoints New Trustees
Millennium Point today announced the appointment of two city heavyweights to strengthen the Board of Trustees. Former Director General of the CBI and Government Minister, Lord Jones of Birmingham and David Waller, former Regional Chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers will join the Board on 9 March 2009, along with recently appointed Jog Hundle, Partner at Mills & Reeve LLP
Announcing the appointments today, Millennium Point Chairman, Sir Bernard Zissman said:
“The addition of Lord Digby Jones and David Waller to our Board of Trustees brings added valuable experience as we move into the next stage of the development of Millennium Point which sits at the heart of the Eastside regeneration of Birmingham. Lord Jones was a member of the initial Millennium Point steering group which, twelve years ago, produced the blueprint for the project. David Waller, as Regional Chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers has played a leading role in the successful development of the professional services sector in Birmingham and the wider Midlands, and will bring a special marketing skill to the Board. We are delighted to have two such outstanding business leaders join us and I know that as well bringing their own special strengths to the Trust, they will gain much from the success of Millennium Point”.
Lord Jones said “I know from my earlier involvement with Millennium Point that the project demonstrates all of the special characteristics of Birmingham and its people and I am delighted to now have the opportunity to help drive the project forward into its next stage of development”.
David Waller added “My experience at the very heart of the Birmingham business community has taught me that there is no shortage of talent and enterprise in our region and I look forward to helping Millennium Point deliver its project purpose and vision for the benefit of those who work there, learn there as well as enjoy its environment.”
Other trustees of Millennium Point Trust are George Campion, Councillor Len Clark, Richard Green, Councillor Ray Hassell, Mark Swallow, Professor David Tidmarsh, Richard Spilsbury, Councillor Ian Ward, and Sir Bernard Zissman.
