Technology Innovation Centre

Helping a wide-range of students and businesses get to grips with the fast-moving changes in the world of technology is Birmingham City University's Technology Innovation Centre (tic).

The tic, entrance on Level 2, is a major UK technological faculty and a national centre of excellence for technology-based development and innovation in industry. It provides:

  • advanced higher technological education for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • knowledge and professional development for qualified engineers and technologists.
  • advanced technological skills, knowledge and abilities for businesses, their managements, staff and workforces.

Apart from the technological education of 17+ year-old school-leavers, upwards, the tic provides extensive support for businesses, transferring technologies into every aspect of their operations and processes from design through manufacture to marketing.
The tic helps companies with technological, operational and organisational people skills to apply advanced technology effectively to meet and beat the multiple competitive challenges of the modern world.
NOTE: In a recent comprehensive survey of UK universities conducted by the Guardian, the tic was amongst the highest rated in electronic/electrical and mechanical engineering for 'value added'. This indicates the excellent improvement it achieves with students entering Higher Education with a broad spectrum of entrance qualifications and who subsequently graduate from the tic with good degrees.
