Our Atrium space saw over 200 people descend upon it to participate in a series of live visual displays and spoken word performances.

On Thursday 1st October, Beatfreeks and Punch Records collaborated to launch Bass Festival 2015 by hosting their event Diaspora Britain here at Millennium Point. As part of Bass Festival, this one-time only event combined art and spoken word into a powerful performance about Black lives in Britain today.

Visitors were treated to four of the UK’s most exciting poets responding live to visuals from leading artists and photographers. Three of the visuals were presented as large vinyls on our Atrium floor, enabling the experience to be viewed both on the ground and from above on one of our many balconies. Crowds were ‘wowed’ by performances from Akala, Soweto Kinch, Vanessa Kisuule and Unhindered Reign, as well as the fourth visual artist, Abian Richards, who specialises in detailed illustrations and worked on a large wall murals during the event.
