The Birmingham Big Art Project will see a new piece of public art commissioned for the city. The aim is to see a high quality, innovative, permanent and low in maintenance piece commissioned that will gain international recognition and put the city on the world’s cultural map.

With hopes of community engagement, in line with culture and wellbeing, this iconic piece of art hopes to become an important heritage for future generations of Birmingham.

The shortlisted artists are Brian Griffiths, Roger Hiorns, Heather & Ivan Morison,Susan Philipsz and Keith Wilson.

Previous work: Roger Hiorns Untitled (Alliance), 2010. Pratt & Whitney TF33 P9 engines that were once mounted on a Boeing EC-135 surveillance plane Effexor, Citalopram, and Mannitol. Dimensions variable. Installation at The Art Institute of Chicago 1 May 19 September 2010.

The exhibition will be open on our Level 2 Pop-up Space from 9am - 5pm up until Wednesday 31st August and we want to invite you to come along and vote for your favourite!
