French graphic artist, animator, computer wizard, stereoscopic wallpaper designer – Boris Labbé is one of those ridiculously talented people who make you wonder what you’ve been doing with your life. Not yet thirty, his work has been exhibited all over the world, and he’s constantly turning out wonderful and confounding animated videos. For his first exhibition in the UK, his short Rhizome will screen as a looping installation alongside a hand-picked selection of the 2,300 original drawings which make up the film.

The film itself is a representation of metamorphosis; of shapes and odd little creatures transforming and constantly multiplying until your brain struggles to comprehend what the image has turned into.

Two of Boris’s earlier films will also play on a loop as part of the exhibition, and Any Road (2016) will screen as part of a programme of musical shorts in our Optical Sound strand.
