Digital Frontiers: Alien Worlds Millennium Point’s regular programme of shorts using animation and digital technology to explore the world around us. Throughout March we will be screening titles exploring other worlds. Titles will be screened throughout the day. The Terrible Thing of Alpha-9! [dir: Jake Armstrong, 2009, 6m] An illustrated sci-fi short in which a space bounty-hunter travels to a distant planet to kill a terrible monster… Grounded [dir: Kevin Margo, 2012, 8m] One astronaut’s journey through space and life ends on a hostile exosolar planet. Themes of aging, inheritance, paternal approval, cyclic trajectories, and behaviors passed on through generations are explored against an ethereal backdrop. Laika [dir: Avgousta Zourelidi, 2010, 8m 40s] A re-imagining of the true story about the first dog in space and what may have happened to her on her momentous journey. The Murf by Rendesvouz [dir: Scott Benson, 2011, 3m 40s] This music video by motionographer Scott Benson is a cosmic story about evolution, technology and survival; an expression of wonder about the universe and our place in it. Planètes Après Planètes [dir: Titouan Bordeau, 2013, 4m 4s] An animated short by French artist Titouan Bordeau, in which an astronaut encounters a small flock of mischievous ducks while mining on an otherwise desolate planet.
