Giant Cyanotype/Sun print Workshop Create a gigantic collaborative cyanotype print with artist Melanie Kingusing a selection of objects and a giant piece of fabric. A cyanotype is an old photographic process, originally famed for its use as ‘blueprints’. To make a cyanotype, you place objects onto chemically treated fabric or paper, and expose the piece to sunlight. The effect is a stunning white and blue print, with the white areas remaining where the objects blocked the sunlight. This event is sponsored by Millennium Point as part of their ongoing support of science, technology and learning. ABOUT THE ORGANISER Developed in Birmingham is a season of hands-on workshops, talks, walks and events which reveal, explore and celebrate the city’s significant role in the early history of photography.
