We like to think that all of Millennium Point is a stage – a place where exciting things can take place and be enjoyed by people of all ages.  And, next week, this will literally be the case.  Millennium Point has hosted performances in its public spaces before and, in two weeks, we get really ambitious! During the evening of 7th May (taking place within Birmingham Made Me), International Dance Festival Birmingham 2014 will be launching the concept that all of Birmingham can be a stage and that dance can be seen and enjoyed in a variety of non-traditional places.

See the results in an exhibition which aims to kick-start regeneration and community development projects across the city. Also, on Thursday and Friday look out for pop-up performances by Birmingham Ormiston Academy dance students, inspired by the architectural designs.

Dance XChange said: “All of Birmingham is a Stage is a concept project that aims to involve the community in urban regeneration of spaces in the city. We want to work with communities to re-imagine outdoor and unusual spaces as places where celebration and performance can happen, help transform those places and bring about a series of performances involving different art forms in these newly created ‘stages’. This place-making project will provide innovative opportunities in arts and architecture, reaching the heart of communities, inspiring and empowering Birmingham residents to shape the city they live in.”

The Exhibition can be seen from 7th – 11th May 2014.
