Earlier this month we launched our new Arts Strategy with the exhibition of House of Treasures by Chinese artist Cao Fei, in collaboration with Eastside Projects, an artist-led contemporary gallery in Digbeth. It was the first time the work had been exhibited outside China.Taking the form of a giant inflatable pig, it was at once entertaining and though-provoking; a space-within- a-space that shifted perceptions of Millennium Point’s vast Atrium. Exhibited with House of Treasures were three films exploring RMB City, an island in the virtual world Second Life created by Cao Fei, that explore identity, urban planning and the built environment.

Our Arts Strategy, which outlines our vision for engagement with artists and organisations exploring the exciting links between art and deisng science and technology. CEO Philip Singleton outlines how the strategy will “create unexpected collisions in thinking and seeing”, transforming our public spaces into ever-evolving places of possibility for both temporary and permanent works.
