Birmingham’s First Mass Vaccination Centre at Millennium Point has closed

Published 02/09/2021

The Covid-19 Mass Vaccination Centre at Millennium Point has now closed. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the NHS staff and volunteers, as well as St John Ambulance, for the fantastic work they have accomplished over the past 8 months. We are proud that the Millennium Point team and building has been able to serve the West Midlands community at such a historic time of need. Thank you to all of you who visited us to receive your vaccinations.

Making history

Millennium Point was announced as a mass vaccination centre for Covid-19 in January 2021. It was one of eight centres to be opened across the UK, and the first mass vaccination site in the West Midlands region. Our venue opened it’s doors as a  vaccination centre on 11th January 2021. This announcement was welcomed by the general public and top media organisations alike.

The first day saw Sky NewsBBCITVLBC and Birmingham Mail at Millennium Point to capture the first vaccinations, and mark the historic moment that the UK could start the road to recovery. Below shows some of the photos that were taken on site during the first official day of vaccinations, alongside a video capturing the excitement and relief that accompanied it.

What’s happening next?

Millennium Point is now back and fully operational as the landmark public building and multi-award-winning venue you have come to know and love. We have a lot of exciting events planned for the remainder of 2021 and beyond. Profits from our commercial activities are given to the Millennium Point Charitable Trust who invest millions each year into the growth and promotion of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) education in the region. We can’t wait to welcome you back soon.

Our interactive film and drinks evenings are back!

Back by popular demanded we have once again teamed up with The Wine Events Company to bring you two more unique film screenings, served with themed wines and cocktails. On Saturday 11th September feel the need for speed with the 1986 action hit Top Gun, with four themed cocktails. A couple of months later get ready for a good sing a long and reach the sky with Rocketman, alongside five themed wines. Both of these events are on sale now and you can book by clicking below.
