Last night Millennium Point opened the doors to CONNECT, Birmingham’s newest events suite, at an official opening event.

Forward thinking and trend spotting

Victoria Loomes, Senior Trend Analyst at global forward thinkers Trendwatching.com, delivered key insights into consumer trends in 2017 and beyond. From innovation in beneficial intelligence, to the growing virtual experience economy, guests heard about how to harness the latest trends to work for their business, and to think about the future. As Steve Jobs once famously said, ‘our task is to read things that are not yet on the page’.

Guests were also treated to a virtual reality showcase from tech company AtmosVR. Using the HTC Vive, "Richie's Plank Walk" had guests walking along a wooden plank pitched high above a bustling metropolis giving guests a unique visual and sensory experience.

Millennium Point supports local talent

In the spirit of forward thinking and innovation, Millennium Point commissioned a team of three young software developers to create a method of digital networking. LINC is a connection network created to show links between people and their mutual interests. Guests at the launch of CONNECT interacted with the live visual-map and connected with their who shared mutual interests

Millennium Point is focussed on supporting S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and education within Birmingham, supporting the region’s future generations and developing our home city.

By booking CONNECT, companies will be supporting the charitable objectives of Millennium Point and helping to give back to the West Midlands. Over the past four years, profits from our commercial activities have enabled Millennium Point to donate over £4m to organisations who share our aims.

Millennium Point’s CEO, Judith Armstrong, said:

“The idea to create a purpose built space within the Millennium Point development was really powered by Birmingham’s revitalised position as one of the UK’s most dynamic cities. With so much construction, shifting of the city core towards the East and us being located directly opposite where the HS2 link will deliver passengers into the city, we wanted to ensure we could offer dedicated space not only for offices and learning but also for meetings, events and exhibitions.”
