Millennium Point Scholarship Live Final 2019

An evening showcase of emerging talent in science, technology, engineering and maths.



Now in its fifth year, this is an initiative in partnership between Millennium Point Charitable Trust and  BCU’s Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment to offer one person each year their tuition fees paid for. After a record number of applications this year, hear from five talented young people who will be presenting on local topics relating to engineering, film production, computing, digital and more to a panel of industry leaders, followed by a celebratory drinks reception.

The evening is hosted by Capital Breakfast’s Matilda New, with a panel of judges including Liz Mercuri, Unity Technologies and former BAFTA Young Games Designers Mentor, Hala Lloyd,  lead architect at HS2 in Birmingham; Professor Hanifa Shah, the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Engineering & the Built Environment at Birmingham City University (BCU), Simon Cox, Head of investigations at BBC Arabic and global journalism consultant; and Gavin Wade, award-winning artist-curator and director of Eastside Projects in Digbeth.

The Millennium Point Scholarship is run by the Millennium Point Charitable Trust, who facilitates projects, events and initiatives which support science, technology, engineering and maths in the West Midlands. Now in it’s fifth year, the titular live final is set to be an unmissable evening showcase of emerging talent and future faces in Birmingham and the wider region.
